AA3104 – Aluminum-Manganese Alloy for Can Body Stock
General Description:
AA3104 is a non-heat-treatable aluminum-manganese-magnesium alloy specifically engineered for beverage can bodies and other packaging applications requiring deep drawing, rolling, and forming performance. It’s a combination of light weight, moderate strength, and excellent corrosion resistance makes it ideal for high-volume production lines in the can manufacturing and food packaging sectors.
Key Properties:
- Medium strength with excellent ductility.
- Very good corrosion resistance.
- Excellent surface finish (ideal for printing and lacquering).
- High formability for cup drawing and ironing processes.
Chemical Composition (%):
- Aluminum (Al) Balance
- Manganese (Mn) 0.8 –1.4
- Magnesium (Mg) 0.8 –1.3
- Iron (Fe) ≤ 0.7
- Silicon (Si) ≤ 0.6
- Copper (Cu) ≤ 0.25
- Zinc (Zn) ≤ 0.25
- Chromium (Cr) ≤ 0.10

- Food and chemical packaging.
- Roofing and siding.
- Printed aluminum packaging.
AA5182 – High-Magnesium Alloy for Can Ends & Automotive Use
General Description:
AA5182 is a work-hardenable aluminum-magnesium alloy with superior strength and excellent resistance to corrosion, particularly in saltwater or humid environments. It is especially preferred in can ends, pull tabs, and automotive panels, offering an excellent balance of formability and strength. Thanks to its magnesium content (4–5%), it delivers higher tensile properties than AA3104 and is compatible with deep-drawing and sealing processes used in can lid production.
Key Properties:
- High strength with excellent elongation.
- Outstanding corrosion resistance in marine and food contact environments.
- Excellent performance in stamping and drawing operations.
- Reliable performance in sealing, rivet punching, and tab forming.
Chemical Composition (%):
- Aluminum (Al) Balance
- Magnesium (Mg) 4.0 – 5.0
- Manganese (Mn) 0.2 – 0.5
- Iron (Fe) ≤ 0.35
- Silicon (Si) ≤ 0.20
- Copper (Cu) ≤ 0.15
- Zinc (Zn) ≤ 0.25
